Let not mercy and truth forsake thee...
Write them upon the table of thine heart.
Proverbs 3:3

Uncle Wally passed away on February 24, 2000 at 85 years old..
He left behind a legacy of wonderful memories..Previously I had
 posted many pictures on this page..but have updated it to show only
  the  images that best expressed Uncle Wally and Aunt Olga's
   hospitality to their guests and family.

Update: Aunt Olga has now joined uncle Wally in death.
She passed away on May 8, 2004 . My memorial page
of her can be found at this link: Scarlet Tanager

Words are difficult to describe these two wonderful people who I was blessed to
know and who made such a profound influence on my life... I think of them often
and I can still see them in my  mind....We loved them both.

table

The table now sits empty and bare
With it's chairs neatly lined in place
For guests of yore who dined there
To repeat Norwegian Prayer of grace.

The pleasant conversations we had here
And the laughter will not be forgotten
With family and friends we loved so dear
These treasures cannot be boughten

The best memories linger e'er
Shown to guests seated with care
For the table with chairs
That were so full of love
Now live in our hearts for-ever.

Wally and Olga

IN JESUS NAME WE GO TO TABLE,

TO EAT AND DRINK AT THY WORD,

dig Gud til aere os til gavn;

THOU GOD TO HONOR, US TO BE GIFTED;

sa far vi mat i Jesu navn.

SO RECEIVE WE FOOD IN JESUS NAME.

Amen

Photo I took of my Aunt and Uncle in 1996.
Wally and Olga, for-e'er soul mates
Embraced each other at the gates,
Arm in arm they walked together,
Laughing joyfully thru' the heather,
And rosy skies celestrial's dawn
To greet kin and friends passed on.

They gathered at Heaven's banquet
Where Wally placed an extra chair;
 At the table in tender love and care,
He'd baked a big cake to celebrate,
Like he made on their first date.

In the words from a tribute, of her parents one of their daughters quoted these words:
" In 1937 Olga met the love of her life, Wally Carlson, at a party. He was adorable
and fun and totally captured her heart when he baked her a birthday cake on their
first date.  He made her cakes from then on. On June 18, 1939, they were married
at Calvary Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.  Home movies of that day showed this
happy couple emerging from the church, laughing their way out, as they laughed
their way through a long beautiful marriage."
