Teach me thy way O Lord;
I will walk
in thy truth: unite my
heart...
Psalms 86:11
When
Dad was a 13 year old boy, he remembers his teacher giving the challenge
to
the 8th grade students, for them to memorize all of the states, cities,
rivers,
mountains
and capitals plus to also remember how to spell the names correctly.
Dad
drew the United States map on the school blackboard with chalk after he
memorized all of it in 15 days. He was the only child in his class who
was able
to do this in that short of time.. The teacher whose name was Mr. Kline,
said it
took himself 30 days..Dad's reward was $2.00 and he was entitled to take
a
day
off later to go fishing. Needless to say, my father was delighted.
Dad
remembers catching two trout and he also found 'free lunch' on the
side
of a river bank where he was fishing..(which was an egg salad
sandwich
on the ground covered with ants that someone else had earlier
discarded.)
He wasn't squirmish as he brushed the ants off the bread and
ate
the sandwich anyway. He claimed it didn't make him sick or kill him,
as
he was living proof of living to old age.
