Mother the Organist

For 68 years Mom has been a church organist
Rarely missing a Sunday... unless she was ill..
She knows the old  hymns, fingering keys with skill;
And wrote songs... for singing to play on request.

We embraced  heartfelt music ... enjoyed by all,
Before and after good  food... in the dining hall.
Tributes and memories by... family and friends,
Praised Mother for what she meant to them.

Those who spoke, expressed how they loved her,
Eyes moistened with tears on her 95th birthday.
Tho' there was so much more for me to say,
My words were inadequate and few
as I stood to declare from the pew:

"Thank you, Mom ... for being my mother!!"

Since I had taken so many pictures of mother's 95th birthday party, I needed
to divide it into two pages.  This final page covers the Special Music Service that
started at 1:00 p.m. after Potluck dinner..There are mostly candids here.
Several people were taking pictures that day which was very refreshing to see.
My mother forgot her camera and my husband did too..but Dorsey borrowed
my camera, so that I could be on a few family photographs also...

Some of the Congregation and visitors, listening to the music.

(A very spontaneous picture)
Christy and her husband Ray's, oldest boy Andrew, didn't want his picture
taken, so my cousin's spouse, Jeff, held him up and got him also to smile..Jeff
told me later I should blank his picture out..and I said, no, this is a keeper:0)

If my memory serves me, the picture of Christy's husband, Ray on the left was shot
by my husband Dorsey..They were both taking pictures of the group..but swung the
camera around to shoot each other..My grab shot of Christy on the right reveals
a satisfied expression on her face while listening to some of the other entertainers.
Christy, and Ray with their family came the longest distance to attend this celebration
and left with happy memories of her grandmother's 95th birthday to take back with them.

Thank you to everyone who attended this very special happy occasion!
