Behold how good and how pleasant it is for
brethren to dwell together
in unity! It is like the precious
ointment upon the head, that ran down upon
the beard, even Aaron's beard that
went down to the skirts of his garment...
Psalms 133...1..2
The
plumed Goatsbeard share our civilization,
Two
species new appeared from hybridization.

The
precious ointment spilled as it smeared
To fill
in the mouth but skipped past the beard.
Blue
eyes found unity to pair there and dwell,
A nose
was formed to breathe and to smell.
Some
may compare her to the parable of "Aaron"
Who
the lamb of God annointed with sacred oil.
The
Goatsbeards sod rooted, began in common soil
Where
bonnets are empty and the faces are gone.

I
felt inspired to hand paint an "unknown face" in the center of the photo
on
the top of this page ...I had no pattern to use...just imagination and
the computer

to guide my hand...(Please forgive me if she resembles anyone that you

~Description from Reader's Digest North
American Wildlife~
Goatsbeard (Tragopogon)
The plants of this group have several names.
They are called
Goatsbeard for their huge, white plumed
seedheads; some are
known as oyster plants for the distinctive
flavor of their boiled roots
strongest in the purple--flowered Salsify
(Tragopogon porrifolius).
Three species of this Old World group have
long been established
in North America, and in recent years it
has been found that two new
species have arisen in the Northwest
as a result of hybridization.
