An American
toad crept
Neath'
the door into house.
On floor´boards
she stepped,
To wake
nary a mouse.
She followed
the path
To find
Koki's water dish.
Ah,
joys of a warm bath...
Brought more than her wish.
Amphibians
like streams
To
keep bodies clean...
Miss toad's lofty goal;
Was
to sleep in a bowl !
To
feed her good mood,
She
sampled the dog food...
Instead
of bugs to chew,
She
ate lentil stew!
Oh creatures
of our earth
Beasts
and flying fowl
God
values your worth.
E'en
the creeping things
That
jump or crawl;
Are
of the King's.

Yes,
indeed this American Toad sneaked into our
old
house where she remains hidden during the daytime
and
sleeps in the dog's water bowl at night. The dog
drinks
water out of a different container now:...smile.
Update:
A day after I composed this page, I accidentally
stepped
on the poor little toad and it died under the Hostas plant.
